Our Projects

Operation Flinders

In June this year 10 students from Adelaide Botanic High School took part in one of the Operation Flinders Exercises.

The Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks provided support towards the cost of this program and were pleased to be invited to the presentation ceremony.

This gave members from the club an opportunity to hear about the challenges the students faced and their successes.

The leaders spoke about how well the students had engaged with the program, despite an early finish due to the forecast severe weather approaching the station.

It was encouraging to hear directly from the students too, about the highs and not so highs of the exercise. Abseiling was the high, packing up the campsite on an icy (-3C) morning was one of the challenges.

More information about the Operation Flinders Exercises can be found on their website https://operationflinders.org.au/excercises/

Supporting the Magdalene Centre

The Magdalene Centre is one of the centres this rotary club has supported for many years.

We have recently started involving the community in this support by encouraging shoppers to “buy an extra item’ when they are doing their weekly shopping.

Some donate one item, some donate a bag full, some come back with a loaded trolley.

The Magdalene Centre appreciate the donations and members of the club have an opportunity to meet ’the locals’.

Talk Out Loud

Being part of the Roary family means you can reach out and support members of other clubs in some of their activities.

Adelaide Parks recently contributed to the Adelaide City Rotract Club – Adelaide City Plunge 2023 project to raise funds for Talk Out Loud.

Their target was $2550 but they raised much more thanks to the 3 rotaractors who abseiled down the Intercontinental Hotel.

More information about about Talk Out Loud is available on their website talk-out-loud.grassrootz.com
